Café Orgánico Marcala, S.A., is a Fair Trade and USDA Organic certified coffee cooperative based in Marcala, La Paz, Honduras. Founded in 2001 by approximately 60–69 small-scale farmers, the organization’s primary mission is to transition members from conventional chemical farming to organic production and to directly export their coffee to international buyers, thereby bypassing middlemen and securing better prices.
The cooperative currently boasts over 1,200 member farmers and operates under a philosophy known as the "5 Ms" of regenerative agriculture: Organic Matter, Micro-organisms, Minerals, Molecules (fermented solutions), and Grey Matter (education and brainpower). COMSA utilizes its Fair Trade premiums to fund significant community development projects, including school cafeteria construction, teacher salaries, and educational workshops like the Diplomado Organico held at their demonstration farm, Finca La Fortaleza.
